Saint Martins Dag

It seems today is a holiday in Holland. Thats right it's their version of Halloween. Except I must say Halloween for us is a lot more fun to prepare for. St. Martin's Day is November 11th. All the kids go out with lanterns or candles and sing for candy. Its sad to me that they don't get to dress up. However it is SOOO cute to hear them all sing. Though, our neighborhood is nice, we haven't had a lot of kiddies come by! Oh well. Now, you ask what exactly is St. Martin's day celebrated for? Well, its to commerate St. Martin silly! If you click HERE you can have the whole story. Basically he gave half his cloak to a beggar on a cold winters night. He did a good deed and had a dream that he saw god. Or so the story goes. Other countries like Germany also celebrate the night. The best part is the singing, but I wanna see costumes darn it!!! =D
